My third grade students are part of a technology project that lets them travel to different countries to research different things about the country. For the upcoming school year, the students will be traveling to Alaska!
The third grade students and teachers use the library as a main resource. When I teach a research unit, I like to use books to introduce the project and then move to websites that they can use. The more current the resources I have to introduce, the more the teachers will be willing to send the students to work on their projects.
The problem is that my library does not have any books on Alaska. I would love to get some books on Alaska so that students and teachers can see the school library as a direct resource for their project.
When the students come into the library to look for books on a certain topic, they get excited when they find them. I want this to happen at my library. I want students to leave saying, "This library always has information for my project.?
