Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

COVID cannot keep us down. We are looking to reach each and every one of our students through remote learning. Our middle school is situated on the far outskirts of two larger towns. It is very secluded and sheltered. In fact, a great majority of our students have not ventured out of their area. We are a Title I school and serve free breakfast and lunch to all students who attend.

A large majority of our students are English Language Learners and are either first or second-generation Americans who face hardships on a daily basis.

Many of our students have limited access to technology and other basic necessities that many of us take for granted.

My Project

In this day and age of COVID and remote teaching, I need teachers to think outside the box in engaging students. I need for them to push our students to their highest potential by showing the passion that they have for teaching their subject. We will do a book study on Ron Clark's books during our weekly PLCs to try to ignite a spark to find our passion again. Remote learning has impeded our relationship building which comes naturally through face to face instruction. This book study will provide us with new, innovative ways to engage students interest in school.
