My students are inquisitive, enthusiastic and creative learners! They love being exposed to new ideas and thrive with hands-on experiences. Our classroom is a safe and nurturing space where innovation and student-centered learning experiences are highly valued. Our school is a Title I school with a military population, where all students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students do not have the opportunity for enriching experiences outside the classroom, so I strive to make our learning experiences meaningful, engaging, and exciting.
I hope to encourage a love of learning and equity in our classroom by providing them with hands-on, quality experiences and materials.
The carpet space is the heart of our classroom. It's where we come together in the morning to greet each other, to share weekend happenings, to do thank you circles, to read and to learn. My students are in this area frequently throughout the day. Their kinder bodies sit, stand, spread out, and play all over the carpet as we transition through different activities.
With such high traffic, the current rug in our classroom has suffered tremendously.
The carpet is very hard to keep clean, even with deep cleanings. I would love for my students to have a clean space to meet together on a new space made of interlocking foam mats.
I want my students to be able to move around on the carpet area comfortably, sitting in whatever way helps them work best without worrying about the cleanliness. Foam mats are easy to clean and reconfigure if necessary. The ease of being able to wipe it down with wipes, or pressure wash if necessary will give my students the liberty to work and gather on our carpet.
