My students are a wonderful group of inquiring minds. We have just started to work in a science lab this year to learn about our units of study. They love to discuss their ideas, either on the rug or at their seats. They are a group of students with mixed economic backgrounds, experiences and personalities. I have several ESOL students in my classroom, as well as special needs students.
Helping my students with these projects will not only foster their love of learning, but knowing that they have the tools to succeed.
We are usually borrowing supplies from other classrooms that we need for different projects. I also inherited many used and outdated items from the teacher before me. Thank you for choosing us!
My Project
I have chosen a class set of clipboards that will help my students in the science lab and outside for taking notes and observing. We have a new science lab this year that is used in conjunction with our computer lab. The space is limited and the clip boards will make learning in the lab simple with no table space and compact enough to move with ease.
They will use the house building materials to show how building a strong structure is important against the elements.
One of our science units asks students if they believe beavers are engineers, and the students form their own opinion after learning about beavers and the what effects they have on their environment. Students in second grade love building with legos, blocks and other items. This will get them ready for the STEM work they will do at the Intermediate school level.
The prisms will be used with our math program as well as science when discussing light. Students in second grade learn about 3D shapes in Math as well. They are very excited to learn about anything that has to do with light, rainbows, etc.
This project is made to help our little scientists have the materials at their fingertips! Our second grade units focus on engineering and the earth. These materials will help our class with their inquiry about how the Earth is ever changing. Thank you so much for choosing our project to fund. We appreciate it!
