I work with special needs children who are delayed in all areas. They all have problems with fine motor skills. The majority of our students are physically and environmentally deprived. I attended a wonderful workshop recently teaching how to use the program Handwriting without Tears. I received limited samples of the materials and I have been using these with small groups of students, but lack the materials to adequately teach all the students. This program addresses all the problems that these children have with handwriting and I see the benefits of it. Please consider funding this proposal so our children can learn to write and become proficient when they enter a regular classroom. The materials I need are : 4 sets of Wood Pieces for Capital Letters, 4 mats for wood pieces, 4 sets of Capital Letter Cards for wood Pieces, 4 sets of Rolla Dough letters, 4 stamp and see screens, slate chalkboards and one Magic "C" Bunny. This would allow me to work with 8 more students in a group and these materials would last for many years.
