My Students
I am thrilled to start another great year in first grade! I have not meet my students yet, but I know this will be a great year. I teach at a Title I school. The majority of our students received free or reduced-price lunch.
Our school is committed to providing all of our students with a quality education that will challenge all of our students to reach their full potential so that they can be fully prepared to face the challenges of the dynamic world we live in.
My Project
Our class needs a rug for whole group discussions. This rug has numbers 1-120 printed on them. It will serve as a giant 100's chart. Our math curriculum emphasizes on number sense 1-120 so that our students can develop their mathematical abilities. We can make math more interactive with our rug and students will be exposed to the numbers all the time. Students are required to skip count by 2,5,10, place value is another concept that can be integrated. Our first graders come from kindergarten identifying numbers 1-50. Once they enter first grade they are required to count up to 120. There benefits for students are endless.
