Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

If you care about education this is your opportunity to help me to build a community of learners. I am a first grade teacher in a high-need area. I teach in a CTT classroom. I have regular and special education students in my class. This summer I took a course called Character Education: A Classroom Asset. In our classroom we frequently have to deal with discipline and classroom disruptions. This course showed me how to deal with these kind of disruptions effectively. I purchased several DVDs and Cd's that reinforce all these character education skills.

Although I prepared myself to learn more about how to address behavior or discipline issues in the classroom I can not implement the strategies because I do not have a TV set that enables me to show them these videos. In my school building they have a TV set in the library which is on the 4th floor and in the Auditorium on the ground floor. My classroom is located in the second floor. This make it very difficult for us to borrow one since we do not have an elevator.

By having a TV set I will be able to show, especially to my visual learners, how it looks to be honest, friendly, responsible and to build a productive community of learners.The TV will be used for two teachers and it will benefit regular education students as well as special needs.
