The P.B.I.S. Lady Bobcats are in their second year as a spirit team. The team was created to improve student morale and academic behaviors for otherwise marginalized scholars. "The Squad" has successfully promoted school pride during pep rallies, gain experience in team building and leadership during community service projects and fundraisers and have risen to the level of a student athlete by improving their grades, building healthy relationships with teachers and staff, and parlaying their positive behaviors into better high school acceptances.
Our school is located in an impoverished neighborhood in West Phiadelphia.
We serve mostly low-income African-American Families living well below the poverty level. Our extra-curricular activities provide a safe haven during after school hours. These scholars, in grades five through eighth are building a legacy of school pride and leadership. The scholars have dedicated themselves to practice three times per week and have made strides in improving the behaviors and attitudes as a result of being selected to join the team. "The Sqad" has become a source of inspiration for other scholars and other extra curricular activities being offered at our school.
Cheerleading is life! One of the most important and judged routines are those that require mastery of tumbling, handsprings, flips fulls and tucks. In order to prepare for mastery our cheer scholars must learn the basics in order to reduce the risk of injury.
The eight week tumbling and gymnastics course being offered by Kehler's Gymnastics in Broommall, Pennsylvania will allow the team to practice safety and to condition their bodies to perform at higher levels.
"The more your body has been through the proper motion of a skill, the more your brain and body can coordinate what it's doing"
Members of our cheers squad live in poverty and are unable to afford the "luxury" of professional training. Any donations will not only improve our performance but lead to the improvement of self-esteem, gratitude, dedication, commitment and school pride!
