44.2% of the students in our school receive free or reduced-price lunch, which is higher than the state average and have high financial needs.
Most of my students are trying to overcome the challenges that are often associated with poverty.
My students' families are most often simply unable to afford the basic school supplies that we use throughout the year. In spite of these challenges, I know that my students are capable of achieving great things because every year I see my students meet and exceed the highest standards!
My Project
My team of teachers would love to have a classroom set of Chromebooks for our students, however, we are only asking for 10 at this time because we know how expensive they are! We currently have two online textbooks; Social Studies and English. It would be wonderful to have a class set of computers so that each child may use one on their own instead of sharing.
Many of our students do not have access to computers at home, and many do not have internet services due to poverty.
It is our mission to make sure that every child is able to learn with the newest technology available. We are literally taking this a step at a time, in hopes that we will eventually have enough Chromebooks for all students in our classrooms.
Bringing technology into the classroom is our mission, as we have the desire to help these students work to their full potential. This includes helping the students learn how to use the Chromebooks, reading and annotating, using a split screen, and definitely the lost art of typing!
