Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students brighten my day from the moment they walk into our classroom until the second they leave. As my students enter the classroom each morning, I am greeted with smiles, stories, questions, and my very favorite "Mrs. W, how are you doing over there?" My students have a wide range of disorders that affect the way that they process, understand and communicate information. My classroom consists of students that are in the 4th, 5th and 6th grade.
My students all have different abilities that require different methods of instruction and materials to help them learn to the best of their ability.
My students come to school each day knowing that more than their educational needs will be met. Our school provides each student with free breakfast, a healthy snack at recess and free lunch. Our school also has social and emotional supports for our students if they are needed.
My Project
My students come from a wide range of cultures and have differing abilities. I would like to support my students by having books in my classroom that they can relate to and see themselves in.
By having these books in my classroom my students will be able to see that everyone UNIQUE and one of a kind!
These books will show my students that everyone does things differently and that is OK. I am requesting two different sets of books. One set has stories that show multicultural differences and the second set has stories that show differing abilities.
I am also requesting art supplies to support the idea that we are all unique. We will use the art supplies to create images of ourselves and our families.
