Help me give my students organizational tools for math, spelling, and vocabulary in our classroom.

I have a class of 25 students at this time. This year we had started math, writing, and spelling/vocabulary journals. It was a huge hit. My class was able to focus and were more than happy and willing to go back and look through their notes to help them find the answer to things. We used regular notebooks and created a Table of Contents as well.
This has made my students very self reliant in taking notes and looking up information.
They have been a great class and are very proud of their ability to use their own notes to show their knowledge of a subject. It amazes me how excited they get when they find past information that they have written in a cohesive manner.
These materials will help the students throughout the school year be more organized whether they have been present from the start, or are new to our classroom. This year alone I have had 16 students come and go throughout the year. Meaning I have less than half of my original class. How it this a problem with our notes? When a new student arrives in class, they are starting with no past notes and are unable to use them in our spiral review. It has been a bit of an issue that leaves them confused and frustrated.
The binders will help keep students organized and I can also print out/copy past materials and create binders for the new students so that they will not fall behind.
The highlighters are to be used for pinpointing important information as well as helping students with memorization skills.
