Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are part of a Dual Language Program. Our school is located in Chicago, Illinois. The majority of the students come from low-income families. Most of the students qualify for free lunch. Many struggle to provide the most common school supplies.
I have a classroom full of fun, energetic kids who are eager to learn, have curious minds and ready to be the next world leaders!
Providing a respectful atmosphere and the best learning opportunities possible is my goal every day.
My Project
Our art center, currently consists of an easel. We have been using with paper and crayons. My students have asked many times, if they will ever use paint in kindergarten! My heart aches as we do not have any paint or paint brushes. Upon the fulfillment of this project my students will have the opportunity to create art using a different medium - paint!
This project will help my student to remain great artists by exploring concepts learned and transferred to a blank piece of paper turned in magical colors filled with creativity.
I can assure students will be eager to paint, alphabet, write words, their name along with classmates names, numbers, math equations, ten frames and of course many many great pictures decorated with jewels and wiggly eyes. I really hope my students get the chance to get messy and creative before leaving the kindergarten world.
