This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"We All Use Math Every Day." This was the motto of a popular mathematics-themed t.v. show. My student artists are using observation and problem solving skills to learn the ways math impacts our everyday life.
My student artists attend the first arts-and-technology 6-8 charter school in our state.
Started by a prominent gospel recording artist, our brand-new academy seeks to integrate technology and the arts (visual arts, music, dance, theater) into every core subject.
My Project
My student artists are learning that "We All Use Math Every Day." However, many of them are unable to provide the most basic of supplies, such as pencils and folders. The supplies I have requested will help create a classroom community where every student artist has what they need to be successful.
With these supplies, we will complete a comprehensive exploratory project in order to discover all of the ways we use math every day. At the completion of our project, students will create a capstone presentation in order to teach their peers and school staff the relevance of mathematics.
My student artists love to learn and explore math concepts through the arts.
These basic supplies will provide them with the resources they need to become the problem solvers and critical thinkers of tomorrow. With these supplies, they will complete an exploratory project intended to help them recognize mathematical concepts in the world around them and develop an appreciation for mathematics as a true art form.
