My students need a touchscreen netbook to use for formative assessments and computer-based interventions or activities to help them achieve grade level standards.
Technology has changed education in many ways. With a netbook, my students can have the opportunity to experience learning in ways that I never dreamed possible. Using technology, I can gather data on individual student needs and provide appropriate intervention to change student outcomes.
My students attend a suburban, public elementary school.
My classroom is full of precious, energetic First grade students who are extremely eager to learn. I make it my goal to provide each of them with a successful learning environment. All of my children have the ability to succeed, but it is difficult to always have the resources we need to help them achieve to their potential.
I make it my priority to meet my students where they are in their learning process and help them to achieve grade level standards in the most interactive way possible. When I look into their faces, they have a sparkle in their eyes and they are filled with so much excitement about learning. It is my wish to help my kids keep that joy of learning and send their spark to others!
My Project
Using a netbook in my classroom can change my students' lives because I will be able to use the netbook to administer formative measures to pinpoint specific needs. Based on the data, I can provide appropriate computer-based interventions and monitor progress, using the touchscreen netbook. Overall, having access to this tool in my classroom can help me to be more efficient with gathering data, making instructional decisions, and providing appropriate interventions to improve student achievement.
When a need is identified, the student can use the netbook to work on computer-based interventions targeted to improve specific skills. For example, if a student needs to work on phonemic awareness, I can allow the student to use the touchscreen netbook to work on hearing the sounds in words. If the student needs phonics, they can practice identifying sounds with interactive games. The best thing about having a netbook would be having fun learning using 21st century technology!
Since data-based decision making is so important in education today, my students will benefit from access to a netbook in my classroom.
With Wireless Generation 3D Reading Measures, I will be able to determine the instructional level for each of my students on the netbook. I can use the data to determine appropriate instruction and monitor progress. Based on results, I can assign computer-based interventions to improve deficit skills. This project will have a huge impact on student performance.
