Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with English Language Learners in a low socioeconomic community. Most students I work with live in a shared household where multiple families live together to reduce the cost of living. Many of my students are children of immigrant parents who have limited educations.
The students I work with are eager learners and meet new challenges with enthusiasm.
They always put forth their maximum effort and try to complete a given task to the best of their abilities.
I have a special bond with my students and this community because our school was once my school when I was an elementary school student. I loved this school as a student and love it even more now as a teacher. I have very fond memories of my childhood here and want to provide those same kinds of memories for my students.
I work in a wonderful community and am very proud and honored to say that I am a product of the community in which I teach. My students love when I share stories of the time when I was a student at our school.
My Project
Art is such an important aspect of the development of a student's understanding of the world around them. The arts open a window into another time and another world. The students I work with don't always have the opportunities to visit a museum, but they can take a virtual tour of one via the internet. The mice and mousepads will make it easier for students navigate and research art museums.
The supplies requested are basic art supplies and materials that will allow my students to create their own interpretation of what art is to them.
These art supplies will allow students to use different art mediums such as watercolor and markers to create their own art. In addition, students need somewhere in which to store all their art supplies (pencil case) so that they can keep all their supplies and art work protected (folder).
