My students need something comfortable to sit on since we spend so much time on the floor.

My Students

Our school is located in an area with a tight-knit community. I often have students who either know or are related to former students.

This year I have a curious and energetic bunch of students who all come from varying backgrounds and abilities.

When we are learning, we usually start off on the floor so we can all work together.

We started off the year by emphasizing how important it is to keep trying and don't give up when learning new things. It's amazing how they have taken that advice to heart and encourage each other.

My Project

In Kindergarten, we spend a LOT of time on the floor: calendar time, story time, whole group lessons, rest time, and choice time (learning how to get along with others through play). Right now we have a donated rug that has seen better days. The edges are fraying and the backing is crumbling.

Having a designated "spot" on the carpet helps with personal space.

I tried a few different ways to give the students a visual about where to sit, but those methods didn't help the condition of our rug. Tape leaves adhesive residue, and the hook and loop spots stick too well.

It would be great to have a rug that helps them to know their space!
