This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our school is faced with a tight spending budget, which leads to a shortage of class sets of books, which leaves us sharing books or relying on the document camera for all students to see the text. My students love to learn and would love to own a class set of different chapter books to give them a challenge!

I teach a great group of second graders who are very eager to learn new things and know why things are or have to be a certain way with many concepts.

To many of them, I am a: mother, friend, auntie, superhero, protector, comforter, and comedian. My students attend an urban school in Maryland and all walk to school. They are making me greater as I empower them to be great!

My Project

These two sets of books will allow my students to read the same book at the same time. Many books that we read now must be shared by two to three students or by the whole class under the document camera. Having a book for each student means students can sit anywhere in the classroom and read the same book. We can take these books with us anywhere on campus and still read together.

These books will help to build the love of reading in my students.

The specific books that I am asking for are books that my students have expressed an interest in while looking through our book order forms.
