Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As we start the school year, my students are filled with the same amount of excitement and eagerness as I am! This is my first year teaching second grade, so any help I can get, the better. They are a sweet bunch of kiddos who truly deserve the best education they can possibly get. They may not always come from the best home environments, which is why I strive to make our classroom a warm, safe, loving place for them. I hope to make this year fun and memorable for them.
My Project
These materials will be a huge help to my students. Each day, I spend 30 minutes working with a new group of students where we focus on improving their current ELA and Math level. For example, we have second graders that have not yet mastered first grade content, so that 30 minute period is spent working on first grade curriculum trying to improve their level. These manipulatives will be a great way to keep them engaged in a fun and new way. Also, I plan to allow the students to use these materials when they finish early as an academic reward. They are all related to ELA and Math, so we are meeting the different learning styles of all students.
