My Students

First grade is a wonderful and exciting time for a six-year-old. My students develop as readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists all while losing their teeth!

We are a classroom family that focuses on love, respect, empathy, and kindness.

I believe that relationships hold the key to any classroom success. It’s imperative that I first respect and love my students, cultivating a safe and welcoming environment that allows all students to reach their potential. In such a safe environment students are supported to take risks and push themselves to grow academically and emotionally.

Many of my students are first-generation American or have newly moved to the United States. I love going to work every day. That is thanks to the 24 girls and boys I spend my time with.

My Project

A classroom is a place where all students should feel welcome. These books were thoughtfully selected because they have a meaningful message about being inclusive, kind, understanding, and loving.

Books are a wonderful way to teach kids that we are all different and that's what makes us all so special.

I have a diverse group of students and I want them all to see themselves in the literature we read. It is also important that we learn about the things that we may not understand. These books would be a wonderful addition to our classroom library.
