The year is off to a great start! It is a joy getting to know my students and watching them learn and achieve new milestones!
Students with autism spectrum disorder may face many challenges both socially, emotionally and academically.
Each child is unique in their abilities, likes, and dislikes.
Seeing a child for what they can do, instead of their limitations is an important part of being an educator. We all know that it is not how you start. It is how you finish. But it is also the steps you take along the way, and the people who want to help you achieve your goals.

My Project
The materials included in this project will be used to maximize a sensory specific environment for students at school. To increase engagement for students, I will use soft seats and rest mats to provide additional options for seating. I would like to offer portable, flexible seating where students can be comfortable and learn simultaneously aside from the standard classroom seating options.
The dot markers will be great for art projects which my students love to do!
The chart paper will provide a mode of presentation allowing me to display visuals and written instructional materials. The mirror balls, kinetic sand, and liquid lava tubes will be used during sensory break. This will provide a fun, calming activity for my students.
