My students need hands-on materials, such as a height chart and measurement tools, to experience the math concept of measurement and nutrition and exercise materials to gain knowledge about healthy habits as they grow.
"I'm bigger! " "See I'm growing!"
Four year old children are proud to announce they are no longer little! Help my preschool class take that excitement and begin to develop more concepts of growth through healthy eating and fitness and math concepts of number sense and measurements.
My class of four year old children are eager to grow and to learn!
Through play and discovery they make connections to their world. This first school experience is exciting for them! We approach learning through the whole child : social - cognitive - physical and emotional.
My Project
I am requesting a height chart for my classroom wall for my students to measure how tall they are in the fall. I am also requesting nutrition and exercise materials to use through the year to help them gain understanding of healthy eating, exercise, and caring for their heart. In addition I am requesting other measurement tools and some books for my students to gain math skills using numbers as a measurement and increase literacy skills with new comparative vocabulary (taller/shorter/bigger...)
In the spring they will again measure how tall they are and see how they have grown!
"I used to be this high, now I'm this high!" "I grew!"
Their physical growth is easy for them to see.
What I will also see is their growth socially, emotionally, and cognitively in math and literacy. By supporting this Way To Grow! project you can be part of my students' growth!
