Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our gifted students are special in that they are taught to be global responsible thinkers who are learning to be organized, creative, and compassionate about everything they do. They are realizing their own mind growth as they delve into abstract thinking.

Our learning community consists of 18 gifted students who are gifted in several content area.

The students come from various backgrounds and cultures. There are students whose parents come from tropical islands who did not have an education in the United States. It is difficult for parents to purchase a computer or laptop at home. This project will enable my students to work freely before school, during school and after school on individualized and group projects. This project will enhance their ability to have freedom to connect with other classrooms around the world and it will empower my students to makes their technology dreams come alive!

My Project

The utilization of technology in classrooms today is boundless. However, in my class the students have limited access to technology. The HP desktop computers are broken and we do not have a budget to purchase more.

We have students in the classroom that do not have a computer at home and sometimes cannot afford a computer at home.

Their parents work late so consequently my students are not able to go to the library and use the computers there. I have early bird classes, but do not have computers or tablets for students to work on before schools!

I would like to see our students have the freedom of having iPads in class so that there is time for them to have ample access to complete research, create group projects and be able to design powerpoints so that they may increase their critical thinking skills and creativity!
