My students need a fun and exciting reward when they make positive choices in the classroom. Having this special Kerplunk game would help to build a kind and helpful classroom community.
Our elementary school is blessed with a diverse community. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school where our instruction is driven by what each student needs to be able to master each concept. Our second grade classroom is filled with 25 students, many of whom come from low-income housing and are on free or reduced-price lunch. In these cold winter days in NW Pennsylvania, many of my kids are coming to school after nights of no heat or food. School is their safe place where they can explore who they are as individuals, and who they want to become.
I strive to give students the skills they need to be successful readers so that they may reach their full potential.
My classroom is focused on students becoming great learners, and leaders. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves daily and stretch themselves to make growth. Once my students step into my classroom, they can begin a new adventure into anything they wish to be.
My Project
My students need this large Kerplunk game for their classroom reward. When students make positive choices that help to make our classroom, school, and overall community a better place, they will be able to pull a stick out of the Kerplunk game. When all of the sticks have been pulled to release the celebratory balls, the class will earn a special celebration!
Having this game, will help to build student involvement, leadership, engagement, and help to build our school community.
It will also encourage students to be leaders, and to make wise and kind choices. Because this game is so rare, large, and exciting, students will strive to be their best selves, and earn the special privilege of pulling a stick. This will later transfer them into associating that "special privilege" in becoming better individuals in their community.
