Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are in a public school in Washington, and we represent a diverse student population. I work at a Title I school where a large number of our students are socioeconomically disadvantaged.
My goal is to create a positive learning environment for my students.
I believe that taking the time to create an environment that is both warm and welcoming not only allows students to feel valued and important, but it also makes it easier to put the stresses and worries from their time away from school by the wayside.
My Project
Technology is everywhere. Part of preparing students for the future is providing them with access to technology. I currently have 10 iPads for students to use. Students do not have access to computers in the classroom, so the existing iPads are their only access to technology during the day.
I would like to add two additional iPads with cases to our classroom.
This will maximize the amount of access that students have and increase their abilities to be successful when using technology.
Currently, we use iPads for small group reading and small group math. With our growing class sizes, student access has been limited. The addition of two iPads would allow more students to be able to work independently on tasks.
