My students need 6 sets of snap circuits, "Great Scientists" posters, and a stream erosion modeling kit to do hands-on labs with both electricity and rivers.
Can you imagine seeing the "Light Come On" both physically and literally! By funding this project you provide my classroom with electricity kits I can use again and again to illuminate electrical currents for my kids. You'll also be helping them to build/change streams, not an everyday occurrence.
My kids are energetic, fun-loving middle school students!
They absolutely love to do hands on labs. The more student centered lab experiences I can provide for them the better! As you know we need to provide solid educational experiences that will enhance their problem solving abilities. As a professional science teacher I don't know a better way to do that than to incorporate as many labs as possible! However, that can get expensive. So, we could use any help you could give us! My Project
The resources you will be providing are re-usable electrical kits, partially re-usable stream kits, and posters of famous scientist for my classroom.
The re-usable electrical kits have over 300 different models that can be used as a lab or as a differentiated learning station. They have snap-on parts and offer students a chance to build series, or parallel circuits, etc.
The stream kits have mock stream bed trays, and different materials to help you build a mock "stream system". You then are able to add different materials to watch the stream erode, and meander. My kids will be able to see erosion and deposition of soil first hand and its effects.
The posters are to aide their visual learning. It is reported that our brain retains pictures at a higher rate than any other form of processing. Therefore, you would be helping to increase their visual learning of the different famous scientists. I have very few posters.
This project is important because it aides children in learning.
What better investment can you make? Teaching someone to investigate their world, try to understand it, and solve the problems that can arise from it...will only benefit us all in the long run.
