My Students
My students are creative and interested in a variety of subjects, but they get very little time during the regular school day to create and express their creative sides.
They enjoy arts and crafts in the library during lunch, and they will participate in creative activities when they are offered.
Not all of them get the opportunity to register for art classes, and our lunch activities provide outlets for their artistic side.
They come from different neighborhood and programs, from different backgrounds and socio-economic levels. Some of them never get a chance to practice with quality supplies due to their cost.
My Project
Twice a month, students will come to the media center during their lunch period to participate in craft activities. The paper will be cut in 2 inch strips and then in half. With the supplies I am requesting, we can make 400 bookmarks for students to take along.
By providing them with watercolor supplies in the makerspace during lunch, they get to experience the joy of watercolors while making bookmarks for their favorite books or for their collections.
With the help of art students and watercolor hobbyists , students will learn the basics of watercolor and some advanced techniques they can apply to their work.
Professional watercolor supplies will prevent the frustration often accompanied by student quality paints, and students will leave the library with a smile in their faces and joy in their hearts.
