Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"To know another language is to have a second soul (Charlemagne)." I have the pleasure to be one of the founding teachers of a dual language Spanish immersion program at my school and to instill in my students the love of language, multilingualism, and learning about different cultures.
My students are kindergartners who are learning Spanish through a dual language immersion program.
Half of my students are native Spanish speakers, and the other half are native English speakers. My students come from different backgrounds and cultures, but are all united by the fact that they are all becoming fully bilingual. My students are pioneers at our school! This is the third year for our Dual Language Two Way Spanish Immersion program and as my first class goes into second grade, I see, first hand, the importance of bilingualism.
My Project
As a teacher, I have the unique opportunity to facilitate powerful learning experiences and inspire curiosity that will validate and empower children to learn. Providing my students with watercolors to paint in the classroom allows them to open themselves up to learning.
My students need watercolors to express themselves artistically.
As a kindergarten teacher, I strive to make learning fun, engaging, and rigorous.
Through the use of art materials, I can allow my students to participate in an artistic expression of learning and to learn art skills. My students love to learn and they are curious about the world around them. Help me bring some of the world to them. Thank you.
