This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach 7th grade Science, which includes ecology, chemistry, genetics, and human biology. Everyone at my school is dedicated to helping students succeed.
We are a part of the Indigo Project which is a statewide program that incorporates the environment into everyday learning. Students develop a sense of community and a respect for the Earth. The state and county have had to cut back on funding for many things, so this would allow us to buy needed supplies.
Our school is focused on learning and creating the thinkers of tommorrow. We need supplies and equipment to carry out hands on projects that will make this possible. This would include a model of a river system, and water analyzing kits. Having these tools to do hands on work would allow students a greater understanding of how we affect our water systems.
You will make it possible for my students to study a part of our community, the river, and be able to see how important it is to conserve our natural resources.
