We are located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the largest city in the state, with about twenty percent of residents below the poverty level.
My students come from a diverse set of backgrounds and each and every one of them brings a fresh, unique perspective to the classroom.
As freshmen, they are just beginning their high school careers: they are inquisitive, determined, and focused to make the best out of their school experience.
Every day, the students come to class with questions about current affairs, some obscure historical event they heard about, or just something that has always intrigued them that they want to know more about. Despite the hardships of starting high school during a pandemic, they arrive eager to learn! Their energy and determination to succeed are contagious and motivates me every day.
My goal is to provide water bottles for the whole ninth grade by the end of the school year, currently about forty students out of roughly one hundred have received water bottles.
Due to the current state of the world, the water fountains are closed at my school- I would like to provide each club member with a water bottle as part of their introduction/welcome package to the club.
The stickers will serve for students to decorate their new water bottles if they would like to. I want to have the students each receive a few items to build the community of the grade!
In a pandemic world with water fountains closed these are needed to provide a safe and healthy way for students to have access to water.
