My students are an amazing and diverse group of children who receive special education services in reading, writing, math, and social skills. They are curious and enjoy STEM activities, especially science and programming. They are in 1st through 5th grades and participate in small group activities.
I would love to be able to offer more project-based learning activities for them to develop collaborative learning and analytical skills.
They would be able to apply and generalize their knowledge to real world problems.
My Project
My students receive specialized instruction for social skills, including collaboration, social problem solving, and self-regulation. Many of these children have significant challenges working with peers and building and maintaining friendships. Each of these kids has worked very hard this year, and this project would provide a great way celebrate and honor their efforts. We need dowel rods, butcher paper, launch sets and rockets to build kites and rockets. Building rockets and kites would be an exciting and fun way to celebrate our successes and see our efforts come to life.
Our special education program would greatly appreciate any support we can get in funding as our kids really do love science.
We engage in STEM activities weekly and are also avid chess players. Thank you for all your support!
