Our school is a Title I school, located in a small, rural county. Our classrooms are filled with a diverse makeup of students that include English Language Learners, students with disabilities, and gifted students.
Our students are very eager to learn, and they come to school excited for a new day.
Most of our students come from low-income households where there are limited budgets for school materials and supplies; however, their families are very supportive and very involved our school community!
My Project
Many of my struggling learners have difficulty acquiring new vocabulary. They have trouble learning the meanings of new words, as well as using the new words in context.
These materials will provide my students with fun and engaging ways to learn and apply new vocabulary!
Students will use the vocabulary match-ups to match words to their corresponding pictures or definitions, which will be very helpful for my visual learners. They will get focused practice on target skills with the vocabulary practice cards. The vocabulary game will allow my students to develop skills in using context clues, working with multiple-meaning words, and distinguishing shades of meaning among related words. The vocabulary journals will allow them to record, organize, and use tons of new words!
