Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Since 2012 I am a bilingual teacher for a public school district serving the most disadvantaged students. My school is located in a high poverty area and all of my students are considered at-risk. They come from socio-economically disadvantaged families with little opportunities to succeed in life.
However, those "at-risk" labels don´t stop my students from their desire for learning, growing, and caring about each other's success!
Every day, I am so inspired by their enthusiasm for every single aspect of my teaching. "Mrs. Payssé - they say- let's stay longer with you working on our projects." Throughout the year, we have built a caring community where respect and collaboration are the pillars of our classroom.
If you would know my students the way I know them, you would agree with me when I say that it is worth to invest in their lives!
My Project
After the arrival of this pandemic, we have been forced to adapt to our new reality where we have to learn from home. My students need to see step by step instruction of mini-lessons to complete their home activities and projects. Modeling for them it is important because we use the model I Do, We Do, You Do, in order to master every single reading and math concept. My direct teaching through videos will guide them to accomplish their tasks successfully.
Having this technology I will be able to screencastify what I am teaching and send the lessons to my students.
