My Students

I teach Texas History - PreAP to inclusion classes. Each group has different needs of me and the resources in my seventh-grade classroom. My students are incredibly curious about the world around them. Our campus focuses on whole-child education and meeting each student where they are in the learning process.

I love watching my students' light bulbs flicker and then BOOM the whole room is ablaze.

They love to debate every topic we cover and are very passionate about their quest for knowledge.

All too often, as we work our way through the content of the course, students are frustrated by poor choices made by an uneducated public.

My Project

My students do one to two group projects each nine week grading period. I would love to give them the opportunity to record their presentations so they can reflect on their work. Access to recording devices will also give my students that need language support time to practice and record their work for classroom presentations thus reducing the anxiety of language getting in the way of showing content mastery. These projects include but are not limited to a Native American Play, 3D Spanish Missions, Texas Revolution Newscast, an Annexation Debate, and Cattle Drive Rotations. Interacting with the content is so much more fun than looking at dead guys in textbooks.
