This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students live in low-income housing and they attend a Title I school. They are beginning first grade and have various disabilities. They are underprivileged scholars who need equitable access to their education, whether at home or in school. My students work hard and they are eager to learn. They need some basics.

During the pandemic, a lot of families suffered and continue to suffer financially.

We want to remove any barriers that will stand in the way of our scholars' education.

My Project

We notice that the scholars are coming to school in the same clothes because their parents aren't able to go to the laundromat as frequently. Let's face it the other kids know when you have been wearing the same clothes every day. You know when your clothes smell and you're embarrassed that you have to wear the same things again.

We want our kids to thrive in school with clean clothes, and hand soap to use throughout the day.

We completed our first round of laundry detergent, but it is time to send home another round. We got really good feedback and appreciation from our parents for the detergent.

We also want to have extra hand soap to use in the bathroom in case we run out! We are starting to run low on wipes and we want to make sure we have them at all times. The hand soap is super important for when we run out or if we just need extra. Especially with the pandemic, we really need to make sure we are staying safe!
