This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine playing house with just a simple little kitchen? Where is everything else that goes in a house? The kindergarteners want and need more in our house play center.

I currently have 23 funny and smart little kindergarteners.

They love art, building with the math cubes, playing with the doll house, giving hugs, and love the book, No David! by David Shannon. We are so lucky to be at school that thinks that the social emotional is as important as the academics which is why we do have a social emotional curriculum and believe in the responsive classroom. We want to make sure that children learn how to treat each other and themselves with respect.

My Project

The students have been requesting more things for our house play center which is why we are asking for a washer and dryer unit combo. Students will get to use this during their choice time which allows them to practice their social skills with one another and also take a break from our academics.

It is really important for us to receive these materials because I believe that play is an important part of kindergarten.

We call this our choice time. We spend about an hour a day just playing and not worrying about whether we know our letters or sounds. This time is just for us to be us without any worries. This is the time that students remember the most and look forward to everyday when they come to school. This is the part that makes them say, I love school!
