Help me give my students clean clothes and outerwear to help them feel good about themselves. We have a washer and dryer but are continually running out of laundry detergent.
Our Michigan rural school contains almost 900 young five to 2nd grade students. We have many students who are at-risk for a variety of reasons. We use Mountie Proud Tickets within our school as a way to promote being safe, respectful and responsible in our students.
The focus of our school is to make sure all students are successful in all areas: social, emotional and academics.
In order to support this focus, we have to look outside of the box as many of our students have needs that are not able to be met in traditional ways.
We have students who are eager to learn, happy to participate and willing to go the extra step, but sometimes have emotional needs that need to be addressed like clean clothes and outerwear.
My Project
At our elementary school, we have many students that come from at-risk families. Some families do not have washers to clean clothes on a regular basis and some students do not have caregivers that help them get ready in the morning with clean clothes.
We want to provide clean clothes and outerwear for our students; we know by having clean clothes it helps them feel good and when they feel good their learning improves.
We need laundry detergent, washer cleaner and fabric softener so we can continue to provide this service to our Mini Mounties and help them be successful each and every day at school.
