This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Learning vocabulary and reading words is so important in second grade. There are many sight words which 2nd graders need to have mastered by the end of the year. The best way to learn these words is to practice and practice some more. Having a ring to put cards with the words on it will helpful.
My darling second graders attend an inner-city school.
The materials at home are very scarce; consequently, the reading and language arts materials need to come from school. Many students are so excited to know they have mastered their sight word lists, and are eager to learn more!
My Project
Being able to have a metal ring with sight words attached will be beneficial for the students to take home, to bring to the carpet area for reading, and during center time to practice with their friends. Each quarter a student will get a new metal ring to add his/her "list" of words.
Reading is such an important skill, and many students in the inner-city struggle with reading.
Having sight words and vocabulary words at the child's fingertips will allow him to practice. Practice makes perfect, and we desire all our students to be proficient in reading. Your generous donation will allow my students to have easy access to important words they need to know.
