Help me give my students copies of "Warriors Don't Cry" which will teach them about what happened during segregation, specifically, Little Rock, Arkansas in a first hand account that they need to read.

I have a class of students of great need, socio-economically. We are an urban neighborhood public school filled with over 600 students of all lower-income backgrounds, high academic needs in terms of resources and funding, but culturally rich Latino backgrounds and highly motivated to succeed. 94.5% of our students receive free or reduced-price meals and our families need support in providing supplies necessary for my students to learn to the best of their ability.
Despite some family financial setbacks, my students have the drive to learn and love to come to school every day.
They are attentive, engaged, and love to interact with one another, sharing ideas and knowledge. It is truly my joy to see them come alive when they learn and share new things in our classroom.
My 8th grade class is learning about Civics and Social Justice. We will be conducting a novel study with "Warriors Don't Cry" as part of our unit on "Choices in Little Rock" which will examine segregation and Melba Pattilo's experience during the integration of Little Rock's Central High School.
This all-important unit will remind students why it is vital to stand up for what is right and not allow any race or person to be discriminated, marginalized or dehumanized.
Although the events in this novel occurred 64 years ago, the racial strife is still evident in our country today and the only way we can prevent history from repeating itself, it to educate our children with the truth so that real change can occur. This novel will help me teach them that truth.
