My students need materials to practice their comprehension and reading skills.
My 2nd grade classroom is filled with happy and eager 2nd graders.
They come to school each day smiling and wanting to learn. Although all of my students are 2nd language learners, they are eager and enthusiastic students. As their teacher, I want them to be captivated by reading.
I teach at a school that has a free breakfast and lunch program, because of the poverty level of the community. Most of my students come from a home where English is not the primary language.
My Project
I would use the word family and word building materials during instructional and workshop time to increase my students ability to read words. This would help increase their fluency and comprehension.
In second grade we practice reading and thinking about our reading. We learn that real reading is more than just reading the words. I would use the comprehension and fluency building materials to increase students literal and inferential comprehension. These materials are highly engaging and at vary levels, so students could access materials at their level to become a better reader.
Your donation to this project would allow my students to practice reading skills (comprehension and fluency) at their own level.
These materials would allow me to provide engaging materials for students to practice their reading. There is an emphasis on students learning to become better readers based on the common core. These resources would allow students to build a solid foundation of comprehension and fluency skills. These skills are crucial for children to become literate adults.
