This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
A typical day starts with a warm welcome from me to my students. Students enter a friendly and welcoming environment. This sets the stage for all students to give their best. Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. Together we can meet the demands of the most deserving of children.
My students are primarily low income students with approximately 90 percent qualifying for free and reduced price lunch.
Our school is nestled in the heart of the city. At our school we service a large population of Special Education students. Our students have a passion and an eagerness for learning. They are excited about each new school day and what it offers to their intellectual capacity. Students care about each other and are invested in their school community. Many utilize our after school program to help them improve. This is a testament to their strong commitment to their education and their future.
My Project
The materials requested will help my students who are in need of personal care items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste and socks. My students can all benefit from these essential personal care items especially during our long cold winter months.
Additionally, a snack during teacher created tests and during our yearly state examination will provided the needed energy boost to get them through the test.
Additionally, some students stay after for extra help and after school programs. The snack (water and granola bars) will help them get through the last ours of the school day before heading home for the evening.
