Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach an amazing group of 3rd graders at a high poverty inner city public school in Indianapolis.
Many of my students don't come to school in clothes that are warm enough for our chilling winter.
Despite their challenges, my students are eager and talented children who strive to succeed and learn. All of my students are on the free breakfast and lunch program. The school has over 600 students with 40% of them learning English as a second language.
My Project
With cold weather upon us, many of our students do not have the needed resources to keep warm. These sweaters and sweatshirts will not only keep students warm inside school, but will also keep them warm at the bus stop and as they walk to school.
My students come to school each day excited to learn and deserve to do it while being comfortable and warm.
The majority of my students come from low-income families, yet my school does an excellent job of encouraging our students to try their personal best, even when they have challenges at home.
I am always looking for ways to keep my students safe and excited about coming to school. Having a nice warm sweater that will keep them warm during the winter months will help provide a sense of relief to many of our students. Your donation will help students in need keep warm this winter.
