Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at an underfunded, CPS public school in the northside, Hermosa neighborhood. The students in our classroom are bright, kind, and most of all, excited for their first year of school. Many of our students are ESL (English-Spanish Learners) and identify as Hispanic.

My Project

A lot of our children come from low-income homes, where providing even basic winter clothing might be a financial burden. In order to help relieve some financial stress this holiday season, I want to help provide a winter hat and set of gloves to every student in the classroom.

Our students go outside for recess twice a day, and I have noticed, not all are properly dressed for the cold.

Providing winter gear for our students will ensure every child is able to enjoy their outside time while staying bundled up.
