My career center high school Emergency Medical Technician students are killing the books, to learn how to save your life!! My students come from a low income, high poverty community. My students come to class hungry for food and change. Some of my students are lucky to have clean clothes and a shower. This EMT class gives them an opportunity for change in their life. They don't want jobs, they want meaningful careers! I want them to have that chance, don't you?
My Project
In our classroom we do patient care scenarios to better equip our students for the streets. If I touch a patient in gloves it feels different, than an ungloved hand. I want students to know the difference. It is much easier to put tape on a patient without gloves than with gloves.
I don't want my students facing problems in the ambulance, I want them to face those silly little unexpected problems in my classroom.
I want to give these Emergency Medical Technician students the best chance at a successful career.
We are almost completely out of gloves. Can we count on your help?
