This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach resilient, hardworking English Language Learners in Detroit, Michigan. We are a diverse community with many different educational needs. Please help me have supplies of socks so my students can be warm and healthy.

The impact of COVID is clearly visible in our school.

During this time of year, it is freezing outside, and many of our students come to school in footwear inappropriate for the weather and WITHOUT socks. They do not have any, or they will often say that the socks they do have are not clean.

Due to rising prices of food and rent, many of our families are trying hard to keep up. I know that many prioritize food and shelter which does not leave much for clothing for our students. Many of them lack items we often take for granted. Thank you!
