My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds. More than a third of them come from low-income homes, some live in challenging neighborhoods, and several of my students are English-language learners. They come to our classroom with a wide range of academic needs.
Some students are significantly below grade level, and some students are substantially above grade level.
Each student has needs to be met, even if that is a periodic break, additional math fact practice, or even a hug.
My students benefit from differentiated instruction and the ability to choose how to apply their skills in the way they learn best. They are learning to be organized, independent thinkers, and I look to support them by providing a variety of learning opportunities.
I am requesting your support for a classroom rug. My first graders frequently sit in a square or a circle so it is easier to focus during our Reading & Writing Workshop.
We are in need of a warm, comfortable seating option and a colorful, educational rug is JUST what we crave.
Living in New England, our floors are cold & often covered in the salt from our roads. This will give us a warm space that is also inviting!
The best part of this rug is that we can even use it for Reading Around the Room because it has examples of shapes, colors, and the alphabet.
