My Students

Students in my class are part of the school's dual language program. This means that all students are learning material in both English and Spanish throughout the year. Approximately half of my students are native Spanish speakers and thus learning English as a second language throughout the year. The other half of my students are native English speakers and must learn the Spanish language and also meet lesson objectives in Spanish.

After several years at our school, most of these students are bilingual and able to read, write, and speak in two languages!

How commendable, especially in this day and age. However, due to the high language demands of learning all subjects in two languages, our students need even more visuals than most.

My Project

Our school has a uniform policy. Most students do a great job of adhering to it during the warmer months. However, once the temperatures drop and our school heaters are on the fritz, students find themselves without warm uniform clothing, namely sweatshirts.

I would like to have a collection of small, medium, and large navy blue sweatshirts available for students whose families cannot afford outerwear that falls under our uniform requirements.

Students need to stay warm in the winter for their comfort and for their best learning. Additionally, students want to follow the rules and fit in with their classmates.
