My students need jackets to wear in the classroom during the winter when it's cold. Our building temperature isn't consistent and the students often come to school dressed in short sleeves.
I have a classroom of special needs students in grades 4, 5, and 6. I have a cross-categorical unit which means my students have a wide range of various disabilities (autism, cognitive/learning, health impairments, behavioral, and physical). I team-teach with a primary Emotionally Disturbed class. Our students often come to school without proper supplies. They also frequently don't have warm clothing in the winter.
My students need warm jackets and sweaters for cold winter days.
Our building's temperature is unpredictable. Some winter days it is very cold - even inside. My students come to school with short-sleeved polo dress code shirts on and are freezing! I would like to provide a selection of jackets and sweaters that could be kept in the classroom so the students could use them when needed.
My Project
We live in a climate with cold, windy winters. Our classroom has a large skylight which makes the room colder. Our building's heating system is inconsistent. This makes our room's temperature range from comfortable to freezing in the winter. Many of my students come to school in their dress code polo shirts with no sweater or jacket to wear over them.
My students need fleece jackets that they can wear in the classroom.
Our school dress code allows for sweaters and plain fleece jackets without hoods. I would like full-zip fleece jackets in multiple sizes so that all of my students would have a jacket available to wear if they're cold. Students learn best when they are comfortable. Having jackets to wear on those days the classroom is cold will make learning easier for them.
