Warm Classroom

Help me give my students fluorescent light filters to alleviate the glare from the overhead lights. Also, help me give my students an Active Learning Chair for students who need movement to focus.

My Students

I teach a bunch of excitable 6th grade Language Arts students. It is a 90 minute ELA block, so we do a lot of different activities in the time. These kids are fun-loving and full of energy.

Help me give my students a calm learning environment where they can focus and learn!

Quite a few of my students struggle with migraine headaches that negatively affect their performance in school. These kids need extra support and care to do well in class. I also have many students with special learning needs. All students would benefit from a calm learning environment and less glare from the overhead lights!

My Project

Overhead fluorescent light covers will help alleviate glare and increase focus and calm for all learners. This will also help students who suffer from migraine headaches because the overhead lights can trigger migraines in those students. Many students who have special learning needs are also sensitive to the lights and would benefit from the covers. Because my classroom does not have windows, this light would make a huge different for how students learn!

All students would benefit!

Even students without special learning needs would benefit from a calm learning environment and less glare from the lights! Also, the Active Learner Stool will help students with focus issues to participate and engage with class activities.
