My Students
My students are in pre-K through fifth grade in a large school district in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. They come from many different backgrounds and cultures. The majority of my students come from low-income households and many qualify for free and reduced lunch.
Despite some of the challenges that my students face, they are incredibly resilient and are so eager to learn! They bring an attitude of excitement, joy, and perseverance with them to school every day. I feel lucky to work with such an awesome group of young learners!
My Project
Oh the weather outside is frightful! It is beginning to become colder and colder outside, and warm coats, hats, and mittens are essential to keep warm.
Minnesota winters can be very frigid, and my students need the necessary winter gear to keep warm (especially at recess!). The majority of my students come from low-income families, and accessing the appropriate winter gear is often an extra and unaffordable cost for these families.
Help me bundle my students up with warm hats, mittens, and coats. When students have their basic needs met, they thrive and are able to be what they really are ... kids.
