Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My first graders are very active kids with an enthusiasm for learning every day. They love coming to school every day. We start the day with our social studies lesson. I teach them social studies with a focus on community and being a model citizen.
Many of my students come from very large families that are supported by very low incomes.
Some have told me they have up to three families living under one roof. Many others have parents who are divorced or fathers that live in Mexico, Guatemala or El Salvador. These kids face many obstacles in their daily life. It is inspiring to see that they still have the drive to learn.
My Project
Since winter is about to start these Sherpa Fleece Throw Blankets will help them stay warm at night. This will not only benefit the students themselves but the siblings many of them share beds with. With a good night's rest they will be able to come to school alert and ready to learn!
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' academic achievement as well as enjoying a warm winter.
It will impact their lives by knowing that they are cared for. They will see that schools do not solely care for their academic development, but to make sure their needs are met as well.
